Lotte Fang, local historian, telling the good stories of Roskilde recommends:
There is no end to the number of tours to take in Roskilde – both round the city centre and down by the fjord. Many people visit the city in summer, but Roskilde is also very attractive in a month like December. During the Christmas month, Roskilde Museum stages a noteworthy Christmas exhibtion, Christmas fairs abound in town, and the Catholic Church invites you to see their Christmas crèche.
Should you be in the city centre on Christmas Day, you can enjoy the chorale concert performed by a small group of brass musicians who climb up to the ridge turret by the Margrethe Spire to let their music sound across Palægården (Bishops’ Residence). It is a tradition believed to date back to the 17th century.
Similar chorale concerts can be enjoyed at other festivals like New Year, Easter and Whitsun.
